Giving Connect exists to help connect people who want to give with organizations that can put those donations to work in their communities.

To maintain a safe, trustworthy, and effective platform, all users must comply with this Acceptable Use & Prohibited Items Policy.

This policy applies to all users, organizations, community partners, messages, listings, donation requests, and activities conducted through Giving Connect.

1. Our Community Standards

We ask all users to participate honestly, respectfully, and responsibly.

When using Giving Connect, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Communicate respectfully
  • Honor donation commitments whenever possible
  • Respect organizations and their volunteers
  • Respect fellow users
  • Follow applicable laws and regulations
  • Help create a safe and welcoming environment

2. Acceptable Donations

Organizations may establish their own donation requirements and acceptance policies.

Examples of commonly accepted donations may include:

  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Baby supplies
  • School supplies
  • Books
  • Furniture
  • Household goods
  • Linens
  • Non-perishable food
  • Hygiene products
  • Office supplies
  • Pet supplies
  • Community event supplies

Acceptance of any item remains at the discretion of the receiving organization.

3. Prohibited Items

The following items may not be listed, offered, requested, coordinated, or donated through Giving Connect.

Weapons and Dangerous Items

  • Firearms
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Weapon accessories
  • Tasers
  • Stun guns
  • Illegal knives
  • Any item intended primarily as a weapon

Illegal Drugs and Controlled Substances

  • Illegal drugs
  • Controlled substances
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Unlawful medications
  • Unauthorized prescription drugs

Alcohol and Tobacco Products

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Tobacco products
  • Cigarettes
  • Cigars
  • E-cigarettes
  • Vape devices
  • Nicotine products

Hazardous Materials

  • Toxic chemicals
  • Flammable liquids
  • Gasoline
  • Propane tanks
  • Pesticides
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Biohazardous materials
  • Radioactive materials

Recalled or Unsafe Products

  • Products subject to active recalls
  • Unsafe children's products
  • Defective products
  • Products prohibited by applicable law

Illegal or Stolen Goods

  • Stolen property
  • Counterfeit products
  • Pirated materials
  • Illegal items
  • Items obtained unlawfully

Live Animals

  • Pets
  • Livestock
  • Wildlife
  • Any living animal

4. Condition Requirements

Users should donate items in clean, safe, and usable condition.

Organizations may refuse items that are:

  • Broken
  • Heavily damaged
  • Excessively worn
  • Unsanitary
  • Moldy
  • Infested
  • Unsafe
  • Inconsistent with posted needs

Giving Connect does not inspect donated items and cannot guarantee item condition.

5. Prohibited Conduct

Users may not:

  • Impersonate another person or organization
  • Submit false information
  • Misrepresent donated items
  • Misrepresent organization needs
  • Commit fraud
  • Harass, threaten, or intimidate others
  • Engage in discriminatory conduct
  • Violate applicable laws
  • Interfere with platform operations
  • Circumvent platform safeguards
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems or accounts

6. Messaging Rules

Platform messaging exists solely to help coordinate donations and related activities.

Users may not use messaging to:

  • Harass others
  • Send spam
  • Promote unrelated products or services
  • Conduct scams
  • Send offensive or unlawful content
  • Solicit donations outside approved platform purposes

Giving Connect reserves the right to review communications as described in the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

7. Organization Responsibilities

Organizations are expected to:

  • Maintain accurate profiles
  • Keep donation needs current
  • Communicate respectfully
  • Mark donations as delivered when received
  • Use the platform in good faith

Organizations may not knowingly post false, misleading, or deceptive information.

8. Reporting Concerns

Users are encouraged to report:

  • Fraudulent activity
  • Suspicious behavior
  • Prohibited items
  • Harassment
  • Safety concerns
  • Policy violations

9. Enforcement

Giving Connect reserves the right to:

  • Remove listings
  • Remove content
  • Restrict platform features
  • Suspend accounts
  • Terminate accounts
  • Refuse future participation
  • Report unlawful conduct to appropriate authorities

These actions may be taken with or without prior notice.

10. No Guarantee of Donation Acceptance

Organizations maintain sole discretion regarding whether to accept, use, distribute, or decline any donation.

Giving Connect does not guarantee that:

  • A donation will be accepted
  • A donation will be delivered
  • A donation will be used in a particular way
  • A donation will qualify for a tax benefit

11. Policy Updates

Giving Connect may update this policy periodically to address new features, legal requirements, safety concerns, or community needs.

Updated versions will be posted on the platform with a revised Effective Date.

Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
